The Orthodox Way, and

The Orthodox Study Bible.

I cannot see how any of my fellow Protestant believers, can have many objections with these books. The Orthodox have a strong and healthy emphasis on the Early Church Fathers. Also, within Orthodoxy there is currently a movement (started over 25 yrs ago, but growing slowly) to return to the original sources, original Church, and the early Christianity.

I myself am in awe and always reading and researching how the ante-Nicene Church was, how the Christians lived and spread the Gospel to the nations, and how early Christianity was organized and functioned.

For a very FAIR and convincing treatise for the importance of CHRISTIAN TRADITION, I would recommend any of the writtings of D. H. Williams. Writing as an Evangelical Protestant (Baptist pastor and PhD) for Protestants, showing why Protestants need to re-consider, and learn about THE Christian Tradition (as taught by Christ, learned by the Apostles, and passed on by their disciples).

God bless!

The Orthodox Way by Bishop Kallistos Ware was the book that practically opened my eyes to the true Christianity. Not that before reading his book I haven't heard what he wrote on the book but I probably wasn't ready to hear it.

The biggest discovery I had by reading The Orthodox Way is that I should seek to Know God and not About God. This might sound like a fancy figure of speech but for me was a big shift between the christian I was before and the one I am now. Not that I am better now but my conscience tells me this is the only Christian way. So when I'm reading something I'm always asking myself is this helping me to increase the awareness of God? Can I apply this to my life so I can get to Know God better?

THANK YOU Florin.

This is so important, what you are saying: "to know God" ... above .... just knowing "about God".

In Protestantism, we call this ... having a "relationship with God."

This is something that all Christians (Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, Pentecostals) have to have to really be called Christians. I say this, because the term Christian in greek means ... follower of Christ.

You cannot follow someone unless you know that person well (as a friend, and intimate and congenial friend).

Lord have mercy.
